Wanted Spark Bootie Ignites Your Outfit

Booties are the perfect combination of fashion and function: they have the allure of a boot but none of the bulk, helping you easily transition between your weekend skinnies and fancier frocks. It’s also ultra-easy to take booties on and off, and I’m all about being able to slip in and out of shoes.

Zippers: the savior of my lazy shoe-donning habit.

I totally judge a shoe by how fast I can get ’em on and off my feet, because nothing is more frustrating than having to tie, lace, and strap yourself into shoes when you’re ready to run to work or a hot date or just to walk your dog… hey, Kerbie hates waiting and trust me, she gives me the evil eye every time I hold her up!

Gold studs, sweet buckles and perfect length, what's not to love about these booties?

My most recent discovery, the Wanted Spark Bootie, is a physical manifestation of my dream shoe. Not only does it charmingly go with just about anything in my closet, it’s 100% vegan, super comfortable and passes my on/off foot test with gold-studded colors. It features a smooth plastic zipper track with the same long, metal Wanted zipper pull used in every pair of Wanted’s zippable (sic!) shoes, making it super easy to grab and unzip. Hooray!

Tiny gold ball studs give a Western/rocker touch to the se otherwise classic boots.

It also features a 1″ wood block heel that gives you a bit of feminine oomph, but not enough to stress out your feet. This bootie is definitely one of the comfiest pairs of boots I own (and I own a LOT, trust me), and it’s apparent comfiness has resulted in many a wear this season. Since I bought ’em, I’ve probably worn them 80% of the days this season… which does make me feel bad for my other boots. They’re gathering dust!

The gold buckles aren't too loud to wear everyday, despite how big they might look in the picture.

The gold detailing just adds to the overall package — it’s not a gaudy gold, more like gold hardware that injects a rockabilly edge to your look. The tiny ball studs on the top toe of the boot are the perfect detail, so even if you aren’t a gold person, chances are you’d make an exception for these booties. It also comes in a deep red color with silver hardware, if that’s more your speed.

Overall, the Wanted Spark Bootie is one of my faavorite shoe picks this season. In a pinch, the boots fare moderately well in wet situations… so far, I’ve worn them in the rain for a few minutes, and my tootsies were still bone dry when I got home (walking a total of 10 blocks or so).

The only downside: they do make your feet sweat, due to the faux leather material, though it’s a given considering the non-breathability of faux leather anyhow… so that wasn’t a surprise.

Fair, but really, can't you do better?

Metal goodbye to summer: GC plated sandals

I don’t know what it is about cold, hard metal details that get me: is it because armored items make me feel tough? Stronger? Or because I can use the reflective surface to check if I have spinach in my teeth (which happens a lot, actually)? Either way, I am always drawn to shoes and […]

The Rocket Dog Yonder Bootie

Aside: Being vegan doesn’t just extend to your diet… it also means changing the way you shop. I can’t tell you just how many times I’ve weeped over seeing a lovely pair of high heels that seemed made for me in both style and function… only to refuse to purchase them because they were made […]
