Whimsical Wednesday: The Circus Dress

It’s good to inject a bit, or in this case, a LOT of color into your life. People in NYC nearly always stick to a monochromatic wardrobe, so only the brave dare to be different in their clothing color schema choices.

Having said that, I want to teach all my readers how to pull off a multicolor outfit without looking like the Chiquita banana mascot (although she is very chic as is!).

The trick is to keep your other accessories low-key, though in the same color family. I originally wanted to go with my oversize rose blossom earrings (frankly I would have if I knew where they were) but ultimately decided smaller ones would be more tasteful.

Red sunglasses would also have worked here, though I feel like the wooden clubmasters give the outfit a bit of polish.

Wooden Ray-Bans add a bit of polish and sophistication. And sun protection!

My favorite part of this dress is the crossback — which I initially altered from a halter neck, which I hate!

Video: Versatile Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies are a Sweet Staple

I’m the type of person who seriously cannot live without cookies. Or ice cream. Or soy lattes. Or bread. Ok, I can’t live without a lot of things. I’ll spare you that long-winded list. Over the weekend, I was able to work on a video for my Vegan Chao YouTube Channel (you’re subscribed already, right? I don’t […]

Champs Diner Serves Up the Breakfast of Champ-ions

Champs Diner Vegan

Oh, Brooklyn: my love/hate relationship with you will probably endure as long as metrocard inflation. Even though I hate your hipster ambiance, I have to admit, you do have ridiculously tasty vegan food. And Champs is about my favorite hipster-owned vegan joint I’ve tried so far. Ambiance:  I’m definitely not the only person who likes […]

Mango Mango Chinatown – My New Chinatown Icy Treat Mainstay

mango mango chinatown dessert

To be perfectly honest, there really aren’t many great ice cream places in Chinatown, let alone vegan ice cream joints. Literally, there are only about three, not counting the shredded-ice parlors (which are great, but it’s not ice cream). When I don’t feel like just having the generic Haagen-Dazs fruit sorbet in a cone, I […]

A Picnic Basket Lunch Treat

The Picnic Basket nyc veggie sandwich

Whenever I forget to or don’t have time to pack lunch, I die a little bit inside. Anybody who knows me will know that I’m quite the frugalista. If I don’t have a real occasion or a meeting with a friend to spend money on outside food, I try to avoid it at all costs (literally!). […]
