Dad’s Delicious Canadian Cookies

Once in a while I’ll come across a cookie so perfect, it blurs the line between savory and sweet and thankfully, today was one of those days.

My mom brought home a small 2 cookie package of Dad’s Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies from Canada that blew my taste buds out of the water!

These cookies are super tasty– too bad they are only available in Canada.

They had the perfect-size chips: not too big, not too small, yet still the right amount of chocolate-y, were perfectly crunchy and best of all: held its shape like a badass when dipped in a frothy cup of Silk Organic Soymilk. The oatmeal also wasn’t too apparent: it tasted like they used oat flour and had minimal oat-bits, so if you hate getting oats caught in your teeth, no need to worry with this cookie.

Out of the package and onto a plate!
Couldn’t resist taking a few bites first!
Mmm… I just love dunking my cookies into a cold cup of soy.

Plus, after you dip it in the soymilk, it doesn’t get too mushy, like a lot of cookies tend to do… the milk penetrates just enough through the topmost layer of cookie dermis so you get both the softness of a soaked cookie with the crunch of the regular dry cookie. So, dip-dunkability for this cookie is top-notch!

The cookies are manufactured by Kraft, so they aren’t exactly every organic-granola lover’s dream, as they do have sulphites in them, so if you have sulphite-related allergies, beware.

On the website, it says the manufacturing process for this product is “now bullfrogpowered with 100% green natural gas and 100% green electricity,” which makes me think of bullfrogs riding a long tandem bicycle next to a whirring machine, but here’s what it actually means:

“Dad’s is partnering with Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100% green electricity provider, to green the energy requirements related to the baking and production of Dad’s Cookies’ with 100% green natural gas and 100% green electricity. Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power’s generators inject green natural gas—as well as green electricity—into the respective natural gas and electricity systems to match the amount of gas and electricity used in the production of Dad’s Cookies. Learn more at www.bullfrogpower.com.”

This is what I pictured, with a machine next to it… what a weird mind I have.

So that’s always good!

The only con I have for this cookie: it’s only available in Canada! So if you’re ever headed to Niagara Falls, make sure to stock up on these cookies in the supermarket… who cares if you’re still wet from your Maid of the Mist tour, your mouth will thank you!

  1. I live about 5 minutes away from the factory that bakes them. I will look into this bullfrog power. Also it is not baked in a kraft bakery unless this place is owned by Kraft somehow. What I wanted to say was I can by these cookies by the hundreds for cheap in the outlet store. I am constantly ordering things from over the boarder and paying shipping, duties and boarder fees. Too bad we couldn’t make a trade. I have eaten them but don’t eat that way anymore so they are of no use to me! I think a box of 100 is about $3.00 your column makes me want to in out to buy a box now!! LOL

  2. Haha, thanks Martin, but I think I’ll just bribe someone to buy a million of them for me in Canada. :)
